"Nikki" Rowe High School
A message for my Rowe Choir kiddos,
Although our time together was short, you have left a lasting impression and hold a very special place in my heart. I was incredibly fortunate to spend time with each and every single one of you and my colleagues on the Rowe Vertical Team, especially Ms. Stacy Gonzalez (Ms. G).
Ms. Gonzalez was a master teacher in every way. I learned so much from her and she's incredibly shaped the educator that I am today. She loved teaching music and she loved teaching you! We'd spend countless hours in her office and on the phone discussing how to make you all the successful musicians we knew you could be. When that dreadful day came and I learned of her passing, I was in disbelief as my heart fell into my stomach. We all grieved together, we all reflected and then somehow, miraculously rose together. We overcame a tragedy that few have experienced and we can say that we somehow not only made it through, but made some incredibly beautiful music together. When the time came for our U.I.L. Concert & Sight Reading Contest, every single ensemble demonstrated a maturity well beyond it's years. Five Choirs, Five Sweepstakes trophies! What an amazing testament to Ms. G and the outstanding musicianship she instilled in you. It was uncertain what the rest of the school year would bring, but we made some beautiful memories together that I will forever cherish. You must know that all of our conversations in the choir hall and in my office helped me get through it all, and I hope that it helped you as well.
More than ever you helped me realize that in tough times and the most uncertain of situations, FAMILY COMES FIRST! It really felt like a family in the Rowe choir hall. That is why It was a tough choice to accept a job opportunity much closer to home because as I've mentioned to you all many times before, I love you all very much. My time at Rowe is still so vivid in my mind and I can't thank you enough for all of the memories we created. It brings a joy and warmth to my heart that I can't describe.
I'm doing well and I'm happy at my new job in Harlingen. My family is doing well and I have an awesome relationship with my colleagues. The HHS choir program here is growing and thriving more and more each day. It does my heart well knowing that no matter what life throws at us, we will all be OK. You taught me that and I'm forever grateful! I'm always here if you need anything. I'm just a short message away. Stay safe, stay healthy and one day I hope our paths cross again. You are forever in my heart.
Musically yours,
Mr. Gonzalez "MR G"
